Perspective | SEAMEO SEAMOLEC Joins the RESHAPE Project to Advance Sustainable Higher Education
SEAMEO SEAMOLEC is participating in the Regenerating Socio-Cultural Sustainability and Planetary Wellbeing in Higher Education (RESHAPE Project), a three-year international initiative funded by the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education programme and co-funded by the European Union.
During the first half of 2026, SEAMOLEC participated in the project’s kick-off meeting, monthly consortium meetings, and faculty development sessions. The Centre also joined a study visit to Finland and Sweden from 1–12 June 2026, together with 30 participants from eight partner institutions.
The programme included visits to Turku University of Applied Sciences, Laurea University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Gävle, where participants explored innovative practices in digital learning, multisensory learning environments, planetary wellbeing, and community engagement.
The experience provided valuable insights into how technology and sustainability can be integrated into education. These lessons will support SEAMOLEC in developing future capacity-building programmes and strengthening partnerships across Southeast Asia.

Bringing Global Ideas to Southeast Asia
For Dona Octanary, Manager of Community Partnership, Marketing and Publication at SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, the study visit highlighted how sustainability can become part of everyday teaching and learning.
“The study visit showed me that sustainability is not simply a topic to be taught—it can become a guiding principle for designing learning environments, digital innovation, and community engagement. It inspired me to think about how these ideas can be adapted to strengthen SEAMOLEC’s capacity-building programmes and partnerships across Southeast Asia.”
SEAMOLEC will continue adapting the knowledge gained through the RESHAPE Project into practical initiatives that support educators, promote digital innovation, and strengthen regional collaboration for more sustainable and future-ready education.
